Ministries of Holton Methodist Church
Our youth ministry is partnered with Blue Lake Community Church and is called Rooted Youth, because our youth are rooted in Jesus, rooted in God’s Word, and rooted in community. Rooted Youth meets every Sunday at HMC from 4-6 pm (with the exception of holidays), and focuses on helping our youth grow closer to Jesus and live for him through a youth led Bible devotion, a Biblical lesson on relevant topics to youth, along with fun activities, and service opportunities in the community and beyond. Every other year we go on a mission trip to Appalachia Service Project to help makes homes warm, safer, and drier, and to share the love of Jesus. We also have a youth Sunday school class during our 9:30 am service on Sundays (youth begin in the service and are dismissed part way through).

We have Sunday school during the school year (Sept. – May) for kids ages 4 – 12th grade. Our Sunday school volunteers have a passion for Jesus and desire to share His truth in the Bible with the next generation so we can know God and live daily for Him. Our kids Sunday school meets during our 9:30 am service (during the school year). Kids begin in the worship service with their families and are dismissed part way through to head to Sunday school.

Hand2Hand is a West Michigan ministry that partners churches with schools to provide food for kids in our community on the weekends. HMC partners with the Holton Community Center and other Holton area churches to serve our Holton school kids who request these weekly bags of food. This past year we averaged over 133 kids served every week.

We partner with the Holton Community Center (website), which provides food for families in our area. They also have a thrift store which helps provide much of their financial support. HCC is more than just a food bank though, it provides a safe space for people to talk and be prayed over.
Grief is difficult, but we don’t have to go through it alone. Here at Holton Methodist Church we have many persons that have personally experienced loss over the last few years, and we have begun offering this ministry not only to our congregation, but to our community, because we believe in comforting others with the comfort God has given us (2 Corinthians 1:4) . If you are going through a season of grief, we hope you will come and be supported, and learn the skills and tools to help you through your grief. Please go to griefshare.org to get more info and sign up for the current GriefShare.

School supplies are getting more and more costly for families. HMC receives a grant from the Gerber Foundation, along with gifts from members of our church, to purchase school supplies for kids in our community. During Holton schools open house (usually 1-2 weeks before school begins) we have a booth where families can drop by and receive these free and much needed supplies.

We have a beautiful and well maintained outdoor prayer garden, labyrinth (walking path), and walking trail behind our facility which is open year round for anyone to come and pray (member or not) and draw closer to God in the beauty of God’s creation.
God has blessed us with a wonderful sports complex which we are able to offer to the community. We have a playground, baseball field, concession stand/pavilion, and ice rink/basketball court. During the summers we are proud to host Little League practices and games on our field at no cost And through our concession stand we bless the kids playing each game with a free hot dog, drink, and chips as an expression of God’s love and hospitality. During the winter we flood our rink and offer ice skating (weather permitting), and offer free skate rentals on select days.
