FAQ'S
During the school year, our Contemporary Worship Services are at 9:30 am on Sundays (we have one blended worship service during the summers at 10 am, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend). Music is led by a praise team with a keyboardist and guitarists, and is more contemporary praise and worship. After the offering kids (age 4 – 12th grade) are encouraged to attend Sunday School, while the adults hear a Biblical message that applies to our life. We also have nursery care (adjacent to the sanctuary) for ages 0-3, which is staffed by trained and certified volunteers.
The Traditional Worship Service starts at 11:00 am during the school year, featuring a more traditional (yet informal) style of worship with Hymns accompanied by our baby grand piano (we have one 10 am blended service during the summer, Memorial weekend to Labor Day weekend). We also have nursery care (adjacent to the sanctuary) for ages 0-3, which is staffed by trained and certified volunteers.
Our Nursery is staffed and located off the main lobby and adjacent to the sanctuary. All nursery volunteers are trained and certified. Nursery is available for all services, and many of our special services. Nursery attendants are prepared to care for ages 0-3. years old.
Our Youth Group is known at Rooted Youth and is in partnership with Blue Lake Community Church. We are very active throughout the year meeting at our facility Sundays 4-6 pm (unless otherwise noted). We welcome all middle school and high school youth (grades 6 – 12). Usually, youth group involves a devotion, Biblical lesson with an application, fun activities, and service projects.
On the first Friday’s of each month there is a fun activity scheduled with Blue Lake CC (please contact us for details).
Every other year your youth participate in a summer mission trip through Appalachia Service Project to help make homes in that region warmer, safer, and drier.
Communion (also called the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist) is a sacrament in the Global Methodist Church where we recognize the loving sacrifice of Jesus when he died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, making the way for us to be in eternal relationship with God. Jesus signified his sacrifice in a meal with his disciples before his death by taking the bread and saying “this is my body given for you” and the cup saying, “this cup is the new covenant in my blood, do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me (1 Corinthians 11:24-25).”
Through the ritual of communion, we as Methodists, believe we honor and remember Jesus’ sacrifice, and receive his grace and forgiveness anew through his special presence with us.
Communion at Holton Methodist Church is served the first Sunday of every month, during service(s) (unless otherwise noted). You do not need to be a member to be served; Communion is open to all who desire to receive the grace of God through Jesus Christ, and trust in Jesus as their Savior.
Baptism is a sacrament in the Global Methodist Church that publicly signifies we have trusted in Jesus as our Savior, received God’s forgiving grace, and are now a part of God’s eternal family (the Church). As we apply water to the person being baptized we are signifying that person has been cleansed (or washed) of their sin through Jesus, they are a new person through Jesus Christ, and receive the Holy Spirit to live within them and help them as they grow in their faith.
In our tradition, we baptize infants, children, youth, and/or adults recognizing that God’s grace is extended to all persons and can be received such that they are now included into the family of God. and will continue to grow and mature in their faith and walk with Jesus. We affirm baptized via sprinkling, pouring, or immersion (going fully under water). Those baptized as infants and young children are expected to go through a process called “Confirmation” where they learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus and publicly confess their faith in Jesus Christ as their own. Baptism at whatever age, should always be accompanied by faith in Jesus.

While we believe that all persons who receive Jesus as their Savior by faith are members of God’s eternal family, and part of His Church. We also recognize the importance of formal membership in a local church (congregation). The difference between attending a church and being a member is that we are choosing to enter into a covenant relationship with these particular believers, like when we enter into a marriage covenant. We commit to help each other by supporting, encouraging, and helping each other grow as followers of Jesus.
We offer Starting Point Orientation (pre-requisites to membership), and Membership classes 2-3 times a year. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a member.
Holton Methodist Church is part of the Global Methodist Church, a denomination formed in 2022 whose mission is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly”. The GMC takes seriously the Bible as God’s holy inspired Word, and the need to share the Good News of Jesus Christ so that all will be saved and spend eternity with God. It is truly a global denomination with over 4,000 congregations in the U.S., Africa, Philippines, Spain, Eastern Europe, with more congregations around the world being added and planted annually.
